Cigarette silks, or "tobacco silks," although the material is more likely to be satin is a type of tobacciana. They were inserted in packs of cigarettes or could be obtained by sending in coupons stuffed in the packs.
These became popular in the early 1900s, with trading cards distributed in cigarette packages being their predecessors.
The designs came in sets and were meant to appeal to women. The silks came in different sizes and were “published” in sets, or a series intended to be sewn together to make quilts or larger pictures.
Popular subjects included actors and actresses, animals, baseball players, college mascots and seals, flags, generals, Indians, kings and queens, U.S. presidents, and Hamilton King girls.
Some look like little rugs. Most of these small fabric pieces were sewn together to fashion lager textiles such as quilts and table covers. Some cigarette packages even included instructions for industrious homemakers to follow when piecing these together although few women actually smoked in those days, at least not openly.
In comparison to cigar ribbon textiles, cigarette silks are harder to come by

Why are shipping costs so high?

The shipping cost is determined by the postal service which is described below Due to the various sizes and weights of the items in my shop I unfortunately cannot offer free shipping
I utilize the USPS for shipping all packages and have found them to be the most economical and reliable

USPS has discontinued Regional Rate Box prices. This means that this mail class is no longer available
USPS uses Cubic Pricing rates which are determined by package dimensions and distance traveled instead of weight
