The Old Curiosity Shop by Royal 1950's set of Three Underglaze Sage Green Bread/Dessert Plates

Sorry, this item has sold.

These bread/dessert plates are called "The Old Curiosity Shop".
It was part of a series made by a company known as, "Royal" in Sebring , Ohio.

During the 1950's Royal China started manufacturing this interesting Sage Green Dinnerware Pattern.
The Old Curiosity Shop like most other Royal China patterns was sold through many retail outlets and given away as premiums in supermarkets, etc. It was made in Green, Pink, Blue and Black but Green is the color that seems to have survived the test of time and is readily available to Collectors

This Charles Dickens plate was designed by Gordon Parker.
It features authentic reproductions of old world traditional scenes and was inspired by Charles Dickens novel "The Old Curiosity Shop".
If you are ever in London, I am told the actual antique shop that is featured on the Dinner Plate and in the novel still exists on Portsmouth Street where it has stood since 1567.

It was never sold as a full boxed set, but as an individual sets of each item. (A box of 4 plates for example.) The plates would have different scenes on each.

This would be a wonderful acquisition for the lover of Charles Dickens. Just right if you are completing a dinnerware set, and need a replacement.
I love the detailed artwork of the inside of this curiosity shop, and I wish I could walk through that door.

Each plate measures 6 1/2" diameter - There are no chips or cracks- each is in great condition

Why are shipping costs so high?

The shipping cost is determined by the postal service which is described below Due to the various sizes and weights of the items in my shop I unfortunately cannot offer free shipping
I utilize the USPS for shipping all packages and have found them to be the most economical and reliable

USPS has discontinued Regional Rate Box prices. This means that this mail class is no longer available
USPS uses Cubic Pricing rates which are determined by package dimensions and distance traveled instead of weight
