Vintage Packers Tar Soap Lithographed Advertising Tin circa 1930’s
This vintage Packers Tar Soap lithographed advertising tin was made in Mystic, Ct circa 1930's.
It has great colorful graphics on the front of the tin stating it's 'soap is pure as the pines'.
The original instruction booklet is missing but full instructions are listed on the back of the tin which read:
This box contains a cake of the genuine Packer's Tar Soap as made by us for more than 60 years. It is now packed in a metal box so that its use may prove of greater convenience both at home, and in your travels. Keep the soap in this metal box.
Suggestions : To remove the soap press lightly one end of cake, then the other and turn box upside down. Before placing in box, shake water from hand and soap. Undue moisture in box wastes soap. To replace cover, hold bottom as if hinged at one end, then let cover down slowly.
This awesome little metal advertising tin measures 3.75" x 2.75" inches.
There are no dents or rusting. The tin opens easily and only shows signs of slight surface rusting along the outer edges which would be expected due to age and use.
