This is a very cool vintage gold souvenir pin from the 1940's New York Worlds Fair
The pin backing is in tact and solid - still attached to the original cardboard holder and in the original cardboard box which once belonged to Brandon- he wrote his name on the box cover
The 'globe' opens in a locket type manner and states 'paste your picture here'
The New York Worlds Fair ran from 1939-1940 and was the second most expensive American Worlds Fair of all time. Many countries participated and over 44 million people attended in the two seasons.
It was the first exposition to be based on the future, with an opening slogan "Dawn of a New Day" and it allowed visitors to take a look at 'the world of tomorrow'
At the center of it all were Trylon and Perisphere, the symbols of the fair which are depicted on this pin.
The pin measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" The box measures 1/2" x 3" x 2 1/2"
