This nutmeg /spice grinder was made during the 1950 era for the Federal Tool Corp. in Chicago.
It has a sloped and ribbed clear glass bottom that fits nicely in the hand. It functions by a key wound chopper with a plastic measuring cup in teaspoon and tablespoon measurements and a dispenser on top. The cap is removable allowing the contents to be poured
The plastic measuring cup has no cracks or chips in the lid which is rare- since most are found damaged and cracked. The lid attaches to the metal screw cap and grinder portion.
The hand cranks the grinder and breaks up the nuts or spices. The grinder mechanism is made that some portions are in a straight line and others are bent to help with the breakage of nuts. This is how they are made and is not damaged or bent through use.
The glass is in great condition with clear manufacturer markings reading Federal Tool Corp,Chicago on the bottom.
It measures It is 7.25" tall and 3.5" at its widest.
A great midcentury kitchen item- functional too!!
